In 2020, several former Blizzard developers came together to form Frost Giant Studios with the goal of creating the next great PC real-time strategy game. Now, the game studio is gearing up to reveal its first major title at Summer Game Fest on June 9th.
Frost Giant Studios was founded by Tim Morten, former production director of StarCraft 2 and Command & Conquer: Generals 2, and Tim Campbell, former lead campaign designer of Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne and former game director of Wasteland 3. These RTS giants were joined by several other veteran developers with roots in both Blizzard and real-time strategy games.
Former Blizzard Developers Reveal New Strategy Game Spellcraft
The game studio is planning its big debut for the Summer Game Fest, which airs on Thursday, June 9th at 11 am PT. Frost Giant plans to reveal even more about its new title a few days later at the PC Gaming Show, which airs on June 12th at 12:30 PT.
Game Rant had the opportunity to attend an early reveal event Frost Giant held for several eSports casters, streamers, and game journalists, where they got a sneak peek at the upcoming game announcement. The game itself looks stylish and unique, while clearly taking inspiration from its roots in real-time strategy. From what was shown, the game is succeeding at its mission to lower the barrier of entry to RTS games while expanding upon its eSports legacy. Both veterans of the genre and newcomers who want to break into it will want to attend the event and keep their eyes on Frost Giant Studio’s new prize.
