For Honor, published by Ubisoft, combines historical classes with combat in its melee action PVE and PVP modes. Still, a generation onward, the game is harnessing regular content updates five years after its initial release, with its most recent pirate class addition to the Hero list launching back in December.
Now, as For Honor begins its sixth year of seasonal content, Ubisoft has announced that multiplayer will be receiving crossplay support for heroes, further blending unique character fighting styles with a wider player pool. As the game's already taking advantage of next-gen console hardware, it seems that Ubisoft has plans to keep weapons clashing for the foreseeable future.

Ubisoft has announced via its official blog that crossplay will be coming to For Honor multiplayer as part of a two-phase implementation. Releasing as part of Year 6, season 1, players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox will be able to match with players on different platforms for PVE and PVP matchmaking beginning on March 17. Ubisoft states that this should improve matchmaking times for all players, improving their overall multiplayer experience.
As well as resetting skill ratings for all players to make matchmaking fairer until warrior rank can be determined again, crossplay will also be available in a range of PVE and PVP game modes including Campaign Mode, Arcade Mode, Rank Mode as part of its first phase. As of now, in-game communication will be limited, with PC users only able to use the text chat function, and console users having to make use of quick text options, however, Ubisoft is hopeful at reintroducing voice chat for crossplay at a later time.
