After spending the first six-plus months of his life in the NICU, Floribama Shore star Candace Rice's son Maxwell Michael Hardy is officially home. Baby Maxwell, whom Candace shares with boyfriend Denzel Hardy, entered this world on Christmas Day 2021 at only 24 weeks. Ever since, he's been steadily growing and improving his health at the hospital, with Candace paying him regular visits and updating her followers on his progress. Each time she was forced to leave the NICU empty-handed, it was a heartbreaking experience. But now, her boy is finally where he's supposed to be.
For Candace, her entrance into motherhood hasn't been an easy one. But through it all, she stayed strong in her faith and found happiness in Maxwell's milestones, such as when he got his breathing tube out in June. At that point, Maxwell weighed 10 pounds, 9 ounces. Candace shared how impressed the doctors were with his development, which meant it was only a matter of time before he'd be discharged. Several of Candace's Floribama Shore co-stars, who threw a baby shower for her in the midst of those dark days, have also been not-so-patiently waiting for Maxwell to leave the NICU.

In a highly anticipated Instagram post, Candace announced Maxwell was cleared for discharge this week. A video, which fittingly featured the upbeat song «Good Day» by Nappy Roots, showed Maxwell getting detached from all his NICU machines. The video continued with Maxwell experiencing the world outside of his hospital room for the first time and smiling ear-to-ear in his car seat before falling asleep.
