After nearly two years of changing between various contenders, the makers of Jeopardy! have finally announced that Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik will share duties as the game show's permanent hosts. In November 2020, iconic Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek passed away due to pancreatic cancer. Since then, Jeopardy! has been trying to find a new host by switching between various guest hosts. Of these, Jennings and Bialik soon rose to prominence.
Ken Jennings was Jeopardy!’s first guest host due to his previous experience with the trivia show. He currently holds the record for the longest victorious streak on Jeopardy!, winning 74 games in a row. He also played in multipleJeopardy! specials and tournaments. In total, Jennings earned over $4 million from his appearances as a Jeopardy! contestant. Later, Mayim Bialik became another popular Jeopardy! guest host. Known for her role as Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory, and for holding a Ph.D. in neuroscience in real life, Bialik was already associated with knowledge and trivia. Due to their respective qualifications, Bialik and Jennings both seemed appropriate to host Jeopardy!, and both performed well in fan polls as well.

Rather than choosing one or the other,Jeopardy! showrunner Michael Davies announced that Jennings and Bialik are now the permanent co-hosts ofthe show. Starting in September 2022, Jennings will host the first part of Jeopardy! season 39. In January 2023, Bialik will take over for the rest of the season. Additionally, Jennings and Bialik will take turns hosting Jeopardy! specials, such as the Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament and theCelebrity Jeopardy!
