Michael Mann's upcoming biopic Ferrari has officially added Patrick Dempsey to its already stacked cast. Ferrari, which is set during the summer of 1957, will see two-time Oscar nominee Adam Driver take on the role of Enzo Ferrari as the famed motoring icon and entrepreneur faces emerging bankruptcy and a turbulent marriage. With his life and finances seemingly in shambles, Ferrari decides to place his bets on one individual race that takes place 1,000 miles across Italy. It was previously revealed that Penélope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, and Gabriel Leone are also part of the cast of Ferrari.
Now, it has been announced that Dempsey, Jack O’Connell, and Sarah Gadon have officially been added to Ferrari’s insanely packed cast, via Deadline. Dempsey will be portraying fellow race car driver Piero Taruffi, with O’Connell onboard as the late British race car driver Peter Collins. Gadon will be portraying famed film actress Linda Christian.

Based off the 1991 book Enzo Ferrari: The Man and the Machine, the upcoming biopic will see Cruz taking on the role of Ferrari’s wife, Laura, with Woodley playing Ferrari’s mistress Lina Lardi. For Dempsey, this is the latest high-profile movie for him. Later this year, he will return for Disney's Disenchanted opposite Amy Adams, though it's safe to say Ferrari is a vastly different project. This way, though, Dempsey can really stretch his acting muscles. Although details surrounding the release date of the upcoming biopic film are being kept close to the chest, production for Ferrari will begin on August 1 in Italy.
