Niantic's AR mobile titles have taken the world by storm for half a decade now, and while Pokemon GO may be the company's stand-out title, it's far from the only one. Recently, Pikmin Bloom has also begun picking up steam among mobile gamers. A recent scheduling coincidence has led some fans to ask Niantic whether players of Pokemon GO and Pikmin Bloom can expect a crossover in the future.
The Pokemon GO Community Day event for January 2022 brings back Bulbasaur in a new Community Day Classic event. At the same time, Pikmin Bloom players will be participating in the game's first Community Day event of the new year, a 10,000-step challenge. A GameSpot interview with Live Game Director Michael Steranka asked if this coincidence heralded a bigger crossover between the titles, but currently, the answer seems to be a firm no.

According to Steranka, the events weren't planned to overlap, but the two games do work in tandem very well. This is impressive, especially since Pikmin Bloom has run into some issues during its past Community Day events. However, Steranka did make it clear that Niantic is not currently exploring the possibility of a crossover, no matter how cute Pikachu would be in a Pikmin hat.
Steranka stated that many of the teams at Niantic do something called 'air traffic control' to make sure that different games hold events at different times. The goal is to ensure that players don't have to choose which game they're playing during an event period.
