Fallout: New Vegas 2 Reportedly Being Considered By Microsoft
A reliable source is reporting that Microsoft is in very early talks over Fallout: New Vegas 2, a sequel many assumed would never happen. In 2010, Obsidian Entertainment released a spin-off of Fallout set in and around a post-apocalyptic Nevada. Bethesda published the game and allowed Obsidian to develop the title to capitalize on the success of Fallout 3 while the team worked on Skyrim. Despite being a hit, Bethesda never allotted Obsidian the opportunity to make Fallout: New Vegas 2.
Hopes of Fallout: New Vegas 2 being possible were resurrected in 2020 after Microsoft announced it would become the owner of Bethesda and all of its IP. Not only would it have the ultimate say on what these teams do and what is done with their franchises, but Microsoft also owns Obsidian, so it's almost a perfect storm waiting to happen. Still, the ink is relatively fresh on the deal with Bethesda, so Microsoft hasn't gone super in-depth on the developer's future beyond what's already announced.

During his GiantBomb show Grubsnaxx (via VGC), journalist Jeff Grubb has recently claimed that there are very early talks of Fallout: New Vegas 2 with Obsidian and Microsoft.He also noted that nothing is concrete and that there's an interest and conversations about making it a reality. If it does happen, it won't be for many years, however. Bethesda has already confirmed Fallout 5 is in the earliest of stages, but it's focused on finishing Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 before moving on to anything else. Of course, if this does come to fruition, fans likely won't hear much about it for quite a while.
