According to an insider, EA reportedly isn't planning an EA Play event this year.
Winter has passed us and Summer is slowly approaching, which means that it's time to start wondering about E3. It's been a strange couple of years for the event, with publishers like EA and Sony jumping out to do their own thing, while Microsoft and Ubisoft stick with it.

Although EA specifically made its own event that takes place around the same time as E3, it apparently won't be doing anything with it this year. The report comes courtesy of GamesBeat reporter Jeff Grubb, who has recently spoke about some of the things we can and can't expect to see in the summer.
Grubb Tweeted, "Game Mess forecast: While EA, so far, is not planning an EA Play, I'm hearing at least one major company is planning an event for that traditional E3 June timeframe. More next week."
Last year, EA Play 2021 was an hour-long event that showcased games like Battlefield 2042, FIFA, and Lost in Random. Considering how many known games EA currently has in development, such as the sequel to Jedi Fallen Order, the Dead Space remake, and the next Mass Effect and Dragon Age games, it's a little strange that it might not bother with an event this year.
As for the other company that Grubb is referencing in his Tweet, it's likely that he means Microsoft. Grubb recently appeared on the GamesBeat Decides podcast to discuss the recent rumours surrounding Summer events, where he mentioned that Microsoft are planning for an event in June.
