While Detective Danner’s first murder mystery was solved, there are still more twists to look forward to in The Afterparty season 2. From 21 Jump Street director Christopher Miller, The Afterparty season 1 follows Detective Danner (Tiffany Haddish) as she attempts to solve the case of who murdered Xavier (Dave Franco), a famous actor-singer, at an exclusive afterparty for his 15-year high school reunion. The Apple TV+ original show features an ensemble cast of accomplished comedians as each suspect recounts the night of Xavier’s murder from their own perspective.
The ending of The Afterparty season 1 featured one final twist to solve Xavier’s murder, with an unlikely party guest being the one to tie up loose ends. Detective Danner called in Zoe and Brett’s 6-year-old daughter, Maggie, to tell her version of the events from that night, which confirmed the odd circumstances of the blonde wig and Jennifer 2’s absence. After Aniq and Brett proved themselves innocent, Detective Danner revealed Xavier’s true murderer: Yasper. When Xavier refused to collaborate with The Afterparty's Yasper, Ben Schwartz’s character hid in the closet and waited to push him over the balcony to his death.

Since Christopher Miller’s original vision for The Afterparty was a movie, it would make sense for the show to be a limited series concluding after one season.
