There are several awesome characters from The Witcher novels, the Netflix series, and the previous two games that do not appear in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This assortment of unused Witcher characters all have exciting, fleshed-out backgrounds and strong personalities that would have been great inclusions in Witcher 3's story. Whether they were from Andrzej Sapkowski's book series or Netflix's live-action adaptation, or even The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings, many great characters are missing from the third game.

With CD Projekt Red's announcement of the new Witcher game that will leave Geralt behind, it is nigh time to look back at Witcher characters that should have been included in The Witcher 3. CDPR had the opportunity to pull established characters from across the rich, exciting world of the Continent designed by Sapkowski but, of course, within adapting the source material into a video game, characters were lost. Whether due to artistic license or the narrative timeline of The Witcher games, there are plenty of characters not encountered in Wild Hunt.

This list of strong characters play notable roles within the Witcher franchise, whether the novels or series, and deserved an appearance in Wild Hunt. It may be that CDPR chose not to include some of these characters in The Witcher 3 as they had died by the time the events of the game took place; Witcher 3 takes place in 1272, four years after the conclusion of the book series.
