The most recent Minecraft DLC is available on the Minecraft Marketplace as of July 26 and centers around a collaborative crossover with Nickelodeon's popular television series SpongeBob SquarePants. Not only does it allow players to explore the town of Bikini Bottom, pulling locations straight out of the show itself, but it also lets them meet and even play as iconic SpongeBob characters. All-in-all, the DLC includes a handful of missions to complete, an expansive map, and 40 new SpongeBob-themed skins for fans to make use of.
The SpongeBob SquarePants DLC for Minecraft was first announced in the end of June. Although it's the latest of the game's crossovers, it's by no means the only one. Minecraft has released packs based on everything from DreamWorks' How to Train Your Dragon franchise to Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog series. Each tends to come with full-sized maps and missions that let players team up with some of their favorite characters. There are also usually new customization options that can be unlocked.

The SpongeBob DLC was also announced alongside a new Minecraft build challenge, which wrapped up mid-way through July, though the winners have yet to be revealed. Also released was a free Minecraft character creator item, which can be claimed starting on July 26 all the way up to September 27. The SpongeBob SquarePants DLC costs 1340 coins and can be purchased through the official Minecraft Marketplace alongside other DLC. Any players who pay to unlock the DLC will have all 40 character skins added to their account as well as the free customization item.
The SpongeBob characters in the newest Minecraft DLC aren't technically playable.
