The major story events of Genshin Impact occur across the different regions of Teyvat. Mondstadt and Liyue are no doubt the most known regions in the game as they were explorable upon launch. However, there are plenty more in store for Genshin Impact players.
The continent of Teyvat makes up the game world of Genshin Impact. It’s made up of seven major nations, each ruled by an Archon and governed by a unique ideal. There are also other nations that don’t fall under the jurisdiction of the Archons and exist under very different rules.

Mondstadt – The City of Freedom is the player’s first brush with the world of Teyvat. It is governed by Lord Barbatos, the Anemo Archon. However, Barbatos’ presence is rarely felt among the people of Mondstadt as he refuses to rule over his people directly. Though it may be strange to those from other nations, it rings true to the region’s ideal of freedom. Mondstadt of Genshin Impact is inspired by the real-world country of Germany.
Liyue – Liyue values the sanctity of contracts above all else. Thus, the people gather yearly during the Rite of Descension to heed the guidance of their Geo Archon, Morax. As one of the oldest Archons, Morax is a wise god, providing counsel to ensure prosperous trade. However, as the Genshin Impact Archon Quest reveals, he’s growing weary of his prominent role. Liyue is based off real-world China.
Inazuma – Inazuma is the Land of Eternity and the most hostile region that players have encountered thus far. Presided over by the cut-throat Electro Archon, Raiden Ei, locals run the risk of losing their Genshin Impact Vision due to the Vision Hunt Decree. Taking these Visions away brings Inazuma one step closer
