The members of the Family Madrigal will likely return in an Encantosequel, but it seems the magical characters could have to deal with a twist. Most of the members of the Family Madrigal get powers in Encanto. For instance, Luisa Madrigal (Jessica Darrow) has super strength and can move buildings or hoist donkeys into the air. Additionally, Pepa Madrigal (Carolina Gaitán) can control the weather, bringing rainclouds or sunshine wherever she goes. However, Mirabel Madrigal (Stephanie Beatriz) doesn't get powers, which ultimately strains her relationship with Abuela Alma (Maria Cecilia Botero and Olga Merediz). But Mirabel's lack of gifts also drives her to determine why the family's magical house falls apart.
Though Disney hasn't detailed official plans, Encanto 2 is likely on the way. Even months out of its November 2021 theatrical release, Encanto continues to grow in popularity on Disney+. The film even became the fastest Disney movie to reach 200 million streaming hours on the service. The soundtrack has also achieved unprecedented success, spending several weeks at the top of Billboard's albums chart. In terms of an Encanto sequel, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who created the movie's catchy songs, believes it's a question of "when" and not "if."
