Elden Ring has received several significant updates since its release, each addressing community concerns, providing balance changes, and fixing bugs that such a large game inevitably generates. The latest update is one of the biggest the title has so far received, and it touches almost every Ash of War, Sorcery, and Miracle, as direct changes to how PvP will be adjusted going forward.
One of the bigger changes in Elden Ring patch 1.07 is a system’s level update that allows FromSoftware to balance PvP separately from co-op and solo play. Previously, any changes made to weapons or abilities applied across all modes of play. Now, if you decide to invade or are invaded, the game can dynamically adjust how weapons, spells, and Ashes of War will function.
This first wave of PvP-specific changes includes nerfs to the Dragon Communion Incantations, long a source of community ire, as well as poise damage nerfs and an overall decrease in Ash of War effectiveness during competitive play.
General updates include an increase in the poise values of most armors and a reduction in status buildups for dual-wielded weapons (Bleed Cross-Naginata and Vyke’s Spear’s Madness buildup, for instance). Colossal Weapons received attack speed and effectiveness buffs, and the Fingerprint Shield likely no longer tanks every attack known to man, among other updates.
The remainder of the patch notes, which you’ll find below, address sweeping changes to magic in Elden Ring, as well as a few bug fixes.
