One Elden Ring player suffered an all-too-familiar fate, seeing the "You Died" text flash on their screen as the color washed away. Luckily for them, they can know that they were not alone in the blunder that sent them to Elden Ring's afterlife.
Death is a core part of Elden Ring, as players will often die hundreds or even thousands of times in their quest to become the Elden Lord. Players can receive aid from certain multiplayer features in the online world. Elden Ring players can leave messages for others to help (or in some cases, deceive) them to defeat an enemy or find a hidden reward. A player can also touch pools of blood on the ground, which will show how another player died at this location by summoning a red ghost to reenact their final moments of life. Finally, Elden Ring players can see what other online players who are in that same area of the game are doing. These players appear in an Elden Ring world as white, ghostly figures, who can show a player what they are doing. This can be extremely helpful to players who are lost in the game world and are unsure what to do next. Sometimes, it just provides a mirror to their own failures.

This was shown by Reddit user ShinichiR, who posted a clip of them attempting to break through what appears to be a solid wall but which is, in reality, a passage to a hidden room. ShinichiR has to do so while riding up and down one of Elden Ring's elevators, timing their strikes perfectly to open the passage while the elevator passes the spot.
