Mastering the parry maneuver in any Souls game can prove a recipe for success, specifically when it comes to foes who spend most of a combat encounter on the offensive. In many respects, the unpredictable nature of invading players makes having a good handle on Elden Ring's parry system all the more worthwhile.
Invaders exist in two distinct forms in FromSoftware's latest opus. NPC Invaders appear throughout the open-world landscape, ready to start a fight as soon as an unsuspecting Tarnished comes within range. Meanwhile, PvP Invaders can insert themselves into another person's game and wreak havoc at will. Some players have found clever ways to avoid PvP enemies. Others, however, learned the hard way that Elden Ring Invaders can steal items during weapons trades. Recently, it was an invading player who found themselves cut down to size by their incredibly skilled opponent.

TikTok user liggytheiggy shared a gameplay clip of themselves warding off an invading PvP player in Elden Ring by performing a well-timed parry. The video made the rounds on Twitter courtesy of HowlAvalon, whose caption perfectly exemplifies what takes place in the span of 20 seconds. Interestingly, the PvP Invader kicks things off with a stylish jump that leads into a flurry of spinning attacks with their equipped sword. None of their attacks nail the defending user, who merely responds by parrying at the right time. The PvP Invader hilariously takes several steps before exiting the game in shame.
