After several years of not making a golf game, EA Sports is almost ready to release EA Sports PGA Tour,but not for every console. EA Sports PGA Tour will be the first golf entry for the publisher since Rory McIlroy PGA Tour in 2015. Initially slated for a release in April 2022, multiple delays have pushed back the game’s release until Spring 2023, with more details finally starting to come out.
Franchises like The Golf Club and PGA Tour 2K have been holding the fort since the most recent EA Sports entry, and many thought the newest game would be released on all consoles. However, EA Sports announced this week that the game would not be on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One. Though EA Sports didn’t give a specific reason as to why the game was delayed, the exclusion of previous generation consoles may answer that question
EA Sports PGA Tour Now Targeting Spring 2023 Release Date Window
EA Sports PGA Tour will also release on PC along with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. On Tuesday, EA released more information about the highly anticipated game, including a list of the courses that will be available upon release. This includes fan favorites like Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, and, of course, Augusta National Golf Club. EA Sports will have exclusive rights to The Masters in video games as a result. A teaser trailer was released with the announcement of these details that included a great look at Augusta.
Included in EA Sports PGA Tour will be LPGA events, as well as all four majors of the PGA Tour and the FedExCup Playoffs. As for which professional golfers will be playable, that remains to be seen.
