Preorders for Dungeons & Dragons next rules supplement, Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse, will be available from today.
The book is designed to be a world-neutral expansion of player races, monsters and NPCs. Collecting creatures from across various D&D worlds like Ravnica, Eberron, Theros, and The Forgotten Realms and stripping them of their previous settings, it features over 250 monsters and 33 player races ready to slot into any fifth edition campaign.

Monsters of the Multiverse also marks a major change in how D&D manages player races by allowing Dungeon Masters and players to decide their own classes, moral alignments and ability point bonuses, rather than have such things be an inherent trait of the race itself. Now, all traits and abilities of each race will be defined only by their "physical or magical" characteristics, rather than baking in cultural aspects that many players found problematic and deterministic. All of the player races are also being rebalanced and made more powerful to ensure that, regardless of where they originally came from, they all play well together here.
It's also meant to fix some of the ongoing problems Dungeons & Dragons' fifth edition has with low difficulty by re-evaluating the challenge rating of each monster. While no monster has had their CR changed, they have been tweaked to better justify the rating they already had.
Monsters of the Multiverse is debuting this month along with the already-published Tashar's Cauldron of Everything and Xanathar's Guide to Everything as the Rules Expansion Gift Set, which is set to launch on January 25.
