If you’re like us, you just can’t put down the Dragon’s Dogma 2 character creator. We’re spending hours making our characters and pawns perfect, and thankfully your choices are not set in stone. After jumping into the actual game, there are ways to totally remodel your characters and pawns. But, like everything else in Dragon’s Dogma 2, the method is really weird. If you want to change your Arisen after 20 hours of gameplay, there are a couple ways to do it.
It’s also worth noting that there are some severe limitations to customizing your character from scratch. First of all, you can’t change your species — so think hard before deciding. Customization is also expensive and rare, so you can’t do it too often. While the costs are high, they’re not so high that customization is locked to high level characters. Save your gold and Rift Crystals, and anyone can customize their characters a second or third time.
NOTE: Species can NOT be changed, even with the Art of Metamorphisis. Choose wisely!
To change your Arisen (main character’s) appearance after starting the game, travel to the Capital City of Vernworth. There, check the map and find Clovis’s Barberie. Here you can change your appearance in exchange for gold. At the Barber, you can only change your Hairstyle, Makeup or Markings — tattoos or scars. To fully change your appearance, you’ll need a special item called the Art of Metamorphosis.
While 10,000+ G sounds like a lot of money, you’ll typically have 50,000+ by Level 20, and much more in higher levels as you progress. It is a steep cost, but not insurmountable.
To change more than just your Arisen’s hair / tattoos, you’ll need to acquire the Art of Metamorphosis item. This item allows you to totally re-customize your character.
To buy an Art of Metamorphosis travel to Vernworth and find the Grand Riftstone in the middle of the city — this is the Pawn Guild building. To the left of the Grand Riftstone, you’ll find a vendor that trades in Rift Crystals. The
