Warning: Spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
The introduction of Hydra World proves that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness wasted the concept of the multiverse. A glimpse into a place currently being called “Hydra World” in Doctor Strange 2 served as an Easter egg to the villainous organization once run by the Red Skull. The Captain America: First Avenger villains represent one of the Earth’s biggest recurring threats.
Hydra World is one of many dimensions briefly visited by Doctor Strange and America Chavez when the pair were tumbling through the multiverse. In addition to all the other bizarre places seen in this sequence, Doctor Strange 2 took the two characters to a black-and-white universe apparently inspired by classic movies. During the second they spent in this timeline, a HYDRA blimp was spotted in the background. Its inclusion has earned this place the name, “Hydra World”. The specifics of everything that’s different about this world weren’t explored in the movie, but the HYDRA blimp made one detail abundantly clear: HYDRA is in charge. Whether it be in the timeframe of First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, or some unseen point in the MCU history, it appears HYDRA got what they wanted in at least one of the MCU’s universes.

The idea that a place like Hydra World exists is an interesting one, as it certainly would have allowed for the MCU to dive into a unique new corner of the multiverse. By devoting just a few minutes of screen-time to Hydra World, Marvel could have used this universe as an opportunity to preview a world where Red Skull or one of his like-minded successors actually won.
