Chiwetel Ejiofor confirms his Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesscharacter Karl Mordo survived Thanos’ snap from Avengers: Infinity War. Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange has become a major component in the MCU ever since his debut in his own film Doctor Strange. Since then, he has appeared in both Avengers: Infinity Warand Avengers: Endgameas well as Spider-Man: No Way Homeas a supporting character. These appearances have resulted in Strange gaining some incredible character development and becoming a fan favorite hero. The upcoming Doctor Strange sequel will be the first time the character has been the focal point of a film since 2016.
Strange is not the only character returning for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Ejiofor’s Karl Mordo will be returning to the big screen for the first time since the 2016 film. In the original movie, Mordo acted as a mentor to Strange in the way of the mystic arts but would ultimately leave the group sorcerers as he felt Strange was abusing his powers. After this it appears his goal is to rid the world of magic users claiming that the biggest problem with the world is that “there are too many sorcerers.” Since that moment, it appears Mordo has managed to align himself with a new group of allies called the Illuminati which will debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

In an interview with Total Film, Ejiofor revealed that Mordo survived the snap from Avengers: Infinity Warthat removed half of the universe's population for five years.
