While currently non-canonical under Star Wars Legends banner, Han Solo's first encounter with a Jedi and the Force should be made canon once more. As seen in Dark Horse's Star Wars Tales anthology series, young Han Solo once came face to face with Quinlan Vos, one of the Jedi Order's most intriguing members whose journey in the Force was just as tumultuous as Anakin Skywalker's. Considering recent developments in the official Star Wars canon under Disney, the time feels right to reintegrate this story and expand upon this dynamic meeting between the two heroes.
Featured in 2002's Star Wars Tales #11, «The Ghost» comes from Jan Duursema and Dave McCaig. Taking place during the dark times of the Empire, young Han Solo is searching for a lost treasure using a map he won in a game of cards. However, Han soon gets caught in the crossfire between a swoop bike gang that's hunting down a mysterious stranger who ends up saving the future smuggler's life.

Much to Solo's surprise, the man who saved Han claims he's being hunted because the gang thinks he's a Jedi, the long-dead guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy. This is in fact true as the man is none other than Quinlan Vos, a survivor of the Jedi Purge known as Order 66 who was once a double agent serving directly under Count Dooku himself. Following his harrowing journey during the Clone Wars that nearly corrupted him to the dark side, Vos was one of the few to survive the Jedi Order's fall.
