Going beyond the Plaza and the Peaceful Meadow takes some time, but players that go further into the valley will discover all sorts of resources that will help them.

Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Make Crudites
One thing that Dinsey Dreamlight Valley players should know is that Iron Ingots are in fact not a material that can be gathered. Instead, players will need to craft it with other materials. To craft an Iron Ingot, players will need five Iron Ore and one Coal Ore.
Iron Ore can be found when mining rocks with the pickaxe. As mentioned above, different resources can be gathered in each of the biomes that make up Dreamlight Valley. Iron Ore can only be mined in Forest of Valor, Glade of Trust, Sunlit Plateau, Frosted Heights, and the Forgotten Lands.
At the start, these are all biomes that Disney Dreamlight Valley players will not have access to. After completing the quest to obtain the Orb of Friendship, players will be able to use their hard-earned Dreamlight to destroy the Night Thorns that block the path into other biomes. Players should be aware that some biomes are particularly expensive to open. For example, Glade of Trust requires 5,000 Dreamlight, and Forest of Valor requires 3,000 Dreamlight.
