A press release shared by Blizzard has unveiled that Diablo II: Resurrected has sold over five million times! For comparison, the original Diablo II took an entire year to sell four million units, while Diablo III sold over three million times on launch day. Since its launch in September last year, quite a lot has happened in and around Diablo II: Resurrected.
Just last week, Vicarious Visions, the studio behind the ARPG remaster, officially merged with Blizzard Entertainment. The announcement of the merger over a year ago was supposed to ring in a successful collaboration with Diablo II: Resurrected as the grand result.
Looking at the official sales numbers, even a rocky launch period and the burning memory of Warcraft III: Reforged couldn't keep Diablo fans from buying and playing the true remaster of the world's most iconic ARPG classic. On April 14, Patch 2.4 has been launched, introducing numerous changes to class gameplay, mercenary balance, and much more.
