Destiny 2 plays host to a number of references to old, obscure lore from the series' earliest beginnings, but the upcoming Witch Queen DLC seems to be brimming with secrets. With the Collectors' Edition of the DLC already in players' possession, a keen-eyed Guardian has noticed a curious hidden message on the game box.
Veteran Destiny 2 players will know that Bungie often ends up hiding a few tidbits of lore in unexpected places with DLC and Season releases, and Witch Queen is no exception. The message in question is rather cryptic overall — which is par the course for Destiny lore — but it clearly references the ancient Leviathan of Fundament, an ancient creature of Light from the so-called Books of Sorrow.

As Collectors' Editions of Witch Queen have arrived early, players have quickly begun to unravel the various secrets contained within the DLC's box, it seems to have been easy to miss the lines hidden in the packaging itself. These have since been discovered after all, and then posted on the game's secret-focused subreddit, r/raidsecrets. The implications of the line are certainly interesting, as lore buffs have quickly pointed out.
The quote itself is a pointed reference to old Hive lore from the original Destiny game. While it's pretty obvious that Witch Queen would feature Hive culture first and foremost, the line featured here is the Worm Gods' statement on the nature of Light and its long-dead representative, the Leviathan of Fundament. This is yet another suggestion that huge reveals could be coming with Witch Queen, similar to the strange depiction of Oryx in Witch Queen trailers.
