It's nearly time for Destiny 2's expansion to be officially released, and the game's community is eager to know more about what The Witch Queen entails from a gameplay perspective and also in terms of lore. Bungie has been building up to Savathun's moment under the spotlight for a long time, and the Hive, in general, has always been one of the most interesting alien races in the game because of its deep and ancient lore. Savathun's story is told through the Books of Sorrow, and it begins in the Osmium Court of a race that was the proto-Hive, back when Savathun, Xivu Arath, and Oryx had different names and had just lost their father.
The three sisters began a journey that led them to the depths of Fundament, where they pledged their allegiance to their respective Worm Gods to save their race and prevent a catastrophe called the Syzygy. The Leviathan, a disciple of the Traveler, was killed by the new Hive, and the Worm Gods were freed, setting the premise for the Traveler's actions that led to the events of Destiny 2 after a long time.

Players from the Raid Secrets community on Reddit started to note that Destiny 2's official Twitter account has been changing its bio, including a bit that stated "/////There is nothing but deep ocean above," and then "/////It’s time to be honest with yourself: You lost." These phrases could seem to bear little to no meaning, but in Destiny 2's lore books it becomes apparent that when the symbols at the beginning of the sentences are there, it means a paracausal being is talking, such as the Traveler itself in the Harbinger mission lore. As such, it would appear that these small details are not only teasing The Witch Queen
