Demon Slayer season 2 treated fans to some of the most exciting moments in the series yet. Leading up to the release of season 3, there are however, several questions that were left hanging at season 2’s conclusion.
After the heartbreaker that was Mugen train, we were left wondering how the story would progress going forward. How would the demon slayers recover from Rengoku’s death? Would the story continue on the negative spiral his death set up? While season 2 answered all of that and more, it in turn left fans with a host of new questions to occupy their minds. Demon Slayer season 2 left off on quite the cliffhanger. The final scene shows Akaza, the upper moon 3 arriving in Muzan Kibutsuji’s infinity castle, realizing that he must have been summoned due to the death of an upper rank demon. We got a similar scene at the end of season 1, in which it was the lower rank of the twelve kizuki that were summoned for a meeting with Muzan. Considering that the lower moon meeting ended in the deaths of all but one of them, this gathering of upper moons must surely be interesting.
Muzan was enraged when Rui was killed, and he was only the weakest of his main demons. The upper moons however, are his strongest followers and have all retained their positions for hundreds of years. Now that Daki and Gyutaro have been taken out, it’s likely he will be even more upset this time around. As the leader of the demon slayers insisted, the death of an upper moon signals a significant change in the status quo of the series.
