How and when the MCU plans to introduce its version of Wolverine is still a mystery, but Deadpool 3 offers the best option to do it in a way that also acknowledges Hugh Jackman. Of the many challenges the MCU will face to incorporate mutants into an already established universe, a rather complex one is how to replace Hugh Jackman in the role of Wolverine, arguably one of the most iconic versions of a superhero to appear on the big screen. While Jackman had a perfect send-off in Logan, the images of the actor and Wolverine are still very much intertwined in the minds of audiences.
While both the Fantastic Four and the X-Men are now at MCU's disposal following the Fox acquisition by Disney, only the former has had a film confirmed in the MCU. That said, the X-Men-adjacent Deadpool will continue his movie franchise now as part of a larger Marvel universe. Free Guy and The Adam Project director Shawn Levy will team up with Ryan Reynolds once again in what will be MCU's first R-Rated film.
