The Roots of Dread chapter of Dead By Daylight adds yet another Killerto the blood-soaked roster: The Dredge. The online co-op game sees four Survivorstake on various iterations of pure evil, stealthily working as a team (or on their own) to fix generators, cleansetotems, heal their compatriots, and make their escape before they are sacrificed to The Entityby one of 28 potential Killers.

The Dredge is a shadowy manifestation of suffering and inner turmoil, a mangled embodiment of the fear it dredges up (geddit?) in its prey. Its unique power, Reign of Darkness, reflects this all-consuming horror.
The passive Nightfall Metre starts charging up as soon as the Trial begins. This is visible to the Killer as a circle around each Survivor's icon on the left-hand side of the screen. Once the metre is full, a thick veil of darkness falls over the map, forcing Survivors to fend for themselves in near pitch-black for an entire dreadful minute. During this period, you move quicker, quieter, and see much better in the dark than the Survivors.
What's more, Killer Instinct is activated during Nightfall; The Dredge can see each Survivor's location in a glowing white aura, and they won't be able to hear the tell-tale heartbeat that indicates that they are in the Killer's immediate Terror Radius.
