Weird: The Al Yankovic Storyhas revealed its official poster and Roku premiere date. Yankovic is known for his parodies of contemporary musicians, as well as his original songs and polka medleys featuring his trademark accordion. As announced earlier this year, the upcoming biopic Weird will see Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe portray Yankovic in one of his most surprising roles yet. A teaser trailer was released earlier this year featuring Yankovic’s classic Madonna parody “Like a Surgeon”, and several images of Radcliffe in character have been unveiled as well.
Yankovic is not only Weird’s subject, but is also involved in writing and producing. Eric Appel serves as director and co-writer, while the film was co-produced by Funny or Die and Tango. Weird: The Al Yankovic Storywill take audiences on a journey from Yankovic’s childhood as a musical prodigy to a best-selling musician. In addition to Radcliffe, it stars Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna and Abbott Elementary's Quinta Brunson as Oprah Winfrey. Due to Radcliffe's casting, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story has drummed up substantial interest online, and now audiences know when they'll be able to see the former boy wizard's latest transformation.
