Wizards of the Coast has revealed that the next Dungeons & Dragons monster book, Mordenkainen Presents: Multiverse of Monsters, will receive a standalone release on May 17. The book will first be included in the D&D Rules Expansion Gift Set, which is set to launch on January 25.
The current edition of D&D has received several sourcebooks over the years, but the next one is going to be a bit different. Multiverse of Monsters contains over thirty playable races and over two hundred and fifty monsters. These are updated versions of creatures that have appeared in different D&D books, including Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes and Volo's Guide to Monsters. As well as content being published for the first time, such as the tortle race, several of the updated playable races are a lot stronger than their original versions, making it easier to fit races into every setting, as per recent D&D lore changes.

Multiverse of Monsters will be included as part of the upcoming D&D Rules Expansion Gift Set, along with Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, and a DM screen. Those who already own the other books won't have to wait long for a standalone release of the book, as Wizards of the Coast revealed during a recent press event that it will be release a physical and digital release on May 17. The pre-orders for the D&D Rules Expansion Gift Set will go live today, January 18, on the official Dungeons & Dragons website.
