The Dungeons & Dragons DMs of the world will soon have an easy solution for creating maps and counters on the fly, as Wizards of the Coast has announced the D&D Campaign Case: Creaturesand the D&D Campaign Case: Terrainsets. These new sets were announced during the first-ever D&D Direct online showcase, along with new D&D books and D&D video game content.

A map is also helpful for measuring the effects of AoE spells and abilities. There are standard plastic minis available, but some D&D players will make custom minis that better reflect their character.
