Ahead of CD Projekt Red's video event, the Xbox Store has accidentally leaked the enhanced Series X|S version of Cyberpunk 2077, confirming that the release of the open-world sci-fi sandbox's current-gen versions could be imminent. This is accompanied by the recent leak from reputable dataminer PlayStation Game Size, who revealed the upcoming PlayStation 5 box artwork ofCyberpunk 2077which features the female version of V and other notable changes made to its design. Most importantly, however, the dataminer revealed that the release of the current-gen versions could be mid-February or early March, which appears to be accurate, as CD Projekt Red has announced a special video event and briefing for February 15 where it will discuss items related to the game.
Released in late 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 instantly turned into one of the most controversial and worst game launches in recent video game history following a dreadful release filled with a substantial amount of game-breaking bugs, abominable performance issues, and graphical glitches on multiple platforms. Receiving severe backlash and endless refund requests due to being one of the most broken AAA games to ever hit storefronts, PlayStation temporarily removed Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store and both PlayStation and Xbox provided users refunds almost a month after its initial release. Subsequently, CD Projekt Red made revamping the maligned title crucial, releasing several patches during 2021 and announcing more updates in 2022 after delaying the title's current-gen versions.
