Cyberpunk 2077 has gotten a lot shinier and smoother on consoles with CD Projekt releasing the major Update 1.5, which includes an abundance of graphical, UI, and gameplay overhauls. Naturally, this will entice many to revisit Night City or to pick the game up now that it's more optimised on the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.
But for those who want even greater immersion in the cyberpunk world of Cyberpunk 2077 - to stroll around as if living in Night City - then you may be eager to know that VR is coming to this open-world, on PC. This is a feature that won't be an official update by the Polish developer's mind, but from one VR-obsessed modder.

That individual is, of course, the virtual reality modder Luke Ross. Ross has previously released well-received VR mods for Red Dead Redemption 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, GTA V, and Mafia 2, giving fans the chance to savour these creations through immersive VR, and now Cyberpunk 2077 is receiving the Ross treatment.
The mod is called Cyberpunk 2077 R.E.A.L VR and is scheduled to release "by the end of this week", according to Ross' response to PC Gamer's inquiry. The modder has released a video showing off five minutes of VR-enabled gameplay. However, the mod doesn't allow for VR controller support but relies on traditional controls.
In his accompanying Patreon post, Ross said performance is "quite good for such a complex and modern game". Intriguingly, Ross suggests that the game looks at its optimum in VR on low resolution, saying that the "clarity and level of detail you can achieve in this way are simply astounding".
