Cyberpunk 2077’s production director has left after 14 years
The production director of Cyberpunk 2077 has left CD Projekt Red after more than 14 years at the studio.
Jędrzej Mróz joined CD Projekt Red in 2007, and posted a message on his LinkedIn page on Monday saying he had left (as spotted by Twitter user Idle Sloth).
“Thank you CD Projekt Red for a spectacular 15 years,” Mróz wrote. “See you guys around, I will miss you. Time for something new.”
Mróz started as a junior QA specialist in December 2007, working on the original Witcher game.
He would eventually become a QA specialist, then a QA manager, before becoming the lead producer on The Witcher 2.
In 2012 he becamse the lead producer of Cyberpunk, a role that would evolve to executive producer, senior producer and lead tech producer over the years. Since the game’s release in 2020, he’s been production director.
CD Projekt is set to reveal what’s next for Cyberpunk 2077 during a live stream taking place today.
The “special episode” of its Night City Wire live stream will also include new information on Netflix’s upcoming Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime series.
CD Projekt claimed in April that Cyberpunk 2077 had sold over 18 million copies since its December 2020 release. It also said it’s working on a major Cyberpunk 2077 expansion featuring a new storyline.
The publisher is planning to release an updated version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC in the fourth quarter of 2022.
It also announced in March that the next entry in the Witcher series is in development. It said the game will kick off “a new saga” for the franchise.
