Crusader Kings 3’s ‘Fate Of England’ bookmark in 1066 showcases what is probably the most famous moment in the history of England. When the Anglo-Saxon King Edward died without an heir in 1066, three men had strong claims on the English throne: the Anglo-Saxon King Harold II Godwinson, the Norwegian King Harald 'Hardrada' Yngling, and the Norman Duke William 'The Bastard' Normandie.

In real history, William was the ultimate victor after crushing Harold Godwinson’s forces at the Battle of Hastings, causing a seismic ripple that is still very much felt in the British Isles today. As such, William is a popular starting character in Crusader Kings 3.
William starts as the Duke of Normandy, with the war for England (against Harold Godwineson - the Anglo-Saxon) already declared.
The first thing to notice about William is that he has extremely high skill scores across the board, making him a very powerful starting character for an empire-building run.

Watch out for the fact that most of his traits, despite boosting his skills significantly, also increase Stress quite significantly. With William always try and take actions that lower stress and don't select any that cause stress gains, as you might end up with him dying prematurely before you've won the invasion.
