A talented Minecraft player recreated the French town of Turchkeim on a one-to-one scale, completing the build after 600 hours. Minecraft’s dedicated fanbase is still very much alive, as evident by the steady stream of impressive projects continuously spawning on the internet. From fantastical recreations like one Minecraft player’s Avengers Tower build to real-world reconstructions like a Mediterranean Island, players are constantly pushing the boundaries in Mojang’s voxel sandbox.
Minecraft’s continued popularity can be attributed to its steady stream of new updates, like the Caves & Cliffs: Part 2 update that dropped at the end of 2021. The long-awaited patch brought a plethora of world generation changes, such as a new height limit, as well as new biomes. The next big update, The Wild, is said to be around the corner, which could bring more biomes and blocks for players to utilize. All of Minecraft’s new features add to what’s possible in the game, giving players more tools to pursue ambitious projects, like the recreation of Genshin Impact’s Teyvat Continent.

Reddit user TytaRex shared their latest Minecraft build, which is a 1:1 scale recreation of Turckheim in Alsace, France. The scale means that one in-game block is equal to one meter (or three feet) in the real world. Given that Turchheim is about 6.36 square miles, there were over 16 million square meters worth of space to reproduce. According to TytaRex, the massive build took 600 hours to complete and utilized the Minecraft à la carte ign map generator, which allows players to generate maps from geographical data.
