Sony may own Crunchyroll now, but that hasn't stopped the anime streaming service being made available for Switch owners this week.
The Crunchyroll app is a free download and allows access to the streaming service for free as long as you don't mind ads. That's more than 30,000 episodes of anime to watch either directly on the Switch/Switch Lite screen, or on your TV when in docked mode.
Upgrading to the $7.99 per month Premium Fan plan removes the ads and ensures you can watch new episodes one hour after they premiere in Japan. You also gain access to Crunchyroll's selection of digital manga, which consists of dozens of manga and hundreds of chapters. There's also a Mega Fan tier for $9.99 per month, which unlocks offline viewing and lets you stream on up to four devices simultaneously.
If you're not sure about a premium account, Crunchyroll offers a 14-day free trial once you have the Switch app installed. And don't forget, your account (free or premium) isn't limited to your Switch. It's possible to access the services on your PC, TV, iOS and Android devices, streaming boxes, and other consoles. The Switch just adds a new portable option into the mix.
