The top-down sub-genre of shooter games has become a relic of the past as the newer generation of gaming looks to create realistic worlds to enthrall players in. However, games like Hotline Miami have garnered critical acclaim by reinvigorating life into a genre some might consider dated. Strelka Games & Yonder will be following that same path when its first title, Hell is Others, releases later this year.
Hell is Others is an online multiplayer, survival horror, top-down shooter with an infusion of David Lynch-vibes, as players take on the role of Adam Smithson. Accompanied by the sounds of his gramophone that replays the same songs, Adam does his best to stay at home and take care of his plants as he fears leaving his apartment. One day, Adam awakes to discover that a new plant has been added to his collection, a bonsai tree that feeds on blood forcing him to leave his house in search of answers. The development team has dropped a new trailer showing off snippets of gameplay revealing the game's release on October 20 and a closed beta set for September 2.

Hell is Others' release date trailer showcases more of the game's unique art style and gameplay direction. The pixilated streets of Century City are full of danger with dark creatures traveling the streets that will try to end Adam's night. The gameplay will look to blend fast-paced and frantic top-down action as players will have access to a variety of weapons to fend off the creatures of the night when Hell is Others releases later this year.
