There is already one big advantage in Creed 3's favor, as Jonathan Major's villain is a step up from the first two movies. Michael B. Jordan has become the new face of the Rocky franchise in recent years thanks to the Creed sequels/reboot. The first two movies were hits with audiences and critics and at the box office, ensuring that Warner Bros. would make a third installment. Creed 3 is highly anticipated ahead of its 2022 release for a number of reasons, but the sequel is also shaping up to be incredibly different than its predecessors. In one way, that could be an advantage.
There are a lot of familiar elements left with Creed 3, as the movie still stars Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed and Tessa Thompson as his wife Bianca. However, Michael B. Jordan is also pulling double duty as he steps behind the camera to direct, following Ryan Coogler and Steven Caple Jr. taking the reins on prior installments. One of the biggest differences in front of the camera is the expected absence of Sylvester Stallone as Rocky. He's said previously he's done with the Rocky franchise after Creed II. While that could leave some questions about whether or not Creed 3 can live up to the first two movies, it has a secret weapon in its villain.
