Glurch the Abominous Mass is the biggest, nastiest slime in the underground. They're also the first boss you're likely to encounter in Core Keeper. New players might be tempted to charge headlong into battle against this bouncing baddie and get an early boss kill, but Glurch is very dangerous if you aren't prepared.

Glurch makes their lair in the first area of the game, surrounded by lesser slimes. While they can theoretically spawn anywhere with dirt walls, we've noticed that they tend to appear northwest of the Core more often than not.
You can always tell if you're getting close to Glurch's location because the ground shakes every time they bounce. The more intense the vibrations, the closer you are. If you come upon a chamber with lots of slime on the ground and heavy quakes, chances are you'll see the Abominous Mass very soon.
Glurch is usually content to stay at their spawn point and will only attack if you come within five tiles of them. If you get further than that away from Glurch during the fight, the giant slime will return to their spawn point and swiftly regenerate their lost HP. This means you can easily disengage from a losing battle, but you will lose any progress you've made in the fight.
