A dedicated modder has released a new version of their visual fidelity enhancement patch for Control, improving the game's graphics even further still. While Remedy Entertainment's first major foray into the sub-genre of New Weird has been notable for a number of reasons, the game has always been an impressive graphical showcase, too, and unofficial patches are looking to continue this trend.
Control has been making the rounds as a prime example of ray tracing done right ever since it first launched back in 2019, and though it's been almost four years since that day, it stands out even when compared to many modern examples of RT. Certain aspects of the game's visuals have grown outdated, of course, but modders have discovered that it is possible to upgrade some of them by a fair margin.
Remedy Provides Updates on Multiple Titles Including Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne Remakes
The most prominent of these patches comes from the modder filoppi, who's been hard at work improving Control's support for modern rendering techniques. While many are bound to already be looking forward to the announced sequel to Control, filoppi's comprehensive «Control — HDR+Ultrawide+DLSS+RT Patch» mod may be just the nudge some need to jump back into the Remedyverse one more time. As its title plainly implies, filoppi's mod focuses on improving all the key features of Control's visual fidelity. Users can expect substantially improved ray tracing and reduced ghosting issues thanks to an upgraded version of DLSS, and those who own an HDR-ready monitor can enjoy improved color accuracy, brighter highlights, and better image contrast.
