Collector's Rejoice, Min Min Amiibo Lets You Scan Without Unboxing
Almost three years after the game launched on Switch, Nintendo's gradual build of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster came to an end. Sora was unveiled to be Smash Ultimate's final fighter in what was a pretty spectacular reveal. Even though there won't be another Fighters Pass, and perhaps not another Smash, there are still some gaps to fill. Especially for those of you who collect Smash Ultimate's accompanying amiibo.
That collection became a little more complete this week as Nintendo launched the Min Min amiibo. A figurine you can scan using the NFC touchpoint on your Joy-Con. Doing so will add Min Min to the fight, and the amiibo is also compatible with some other games. All very good news, but the very best news of all for you serious collectors is that it doesn't appear as if Min Min needs to be removed from her box in order to be scanned.

As first highlighted by Wolf Link on Reddit, Min Min's amiibo can be successfully scanned without needing to damage her precious packaging. This likely means the foil Nintendo previously used to include in amiibo boxes preventing them from being scanned prior to being opened has been removed. Nintendo Life has tested this out with their own Min Min amiibo and enjoyed the same success, so it's likely the foil has been removed from the boxes of all Min Min amiibo.
As for when exactly Nintendo decided to make things easier for serious collectors, Twitter account Amiibo News seems to think that has been the case since the Kirby figurine was re-released.
