Infinity Ward and Activision premiered the first campaign gameplay for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 during Summer Game Fest Live. It came one day after the first official trailer was released, with Task Force 141 once again called upon to save the world.
Call of Duty GM Johanna Faries was live at the event to show gameplay of Modern Warfare 2's Dark Water nighttime mission, where Task Force 141 must intercept controls for an enemy's missile launch. Task Force 141's Ghost, Soap, and Vargas work to infiltrate the enemy vessel and attempt to stop the missile launch. You can watch the full trailer below.
Activision showed us an early preview of this mission during a presentation held by Infinity Ward ahead of Modern Warfare 2's June 8 reveal. On the surface, Dark Water looks like a typical Call of Duty mission, but the level features a section with a ship in motion and shifting cover to add a little variation to the combat in Modern Warfare 2's campaign. According to Infinity Ward, Dark Water is just one of Modern Warfare 2's missions meant to showcase the studio's plan to bring a fresh take or add new elements to some of Call of Duty's most popular level types.
