German developer Ion Lands released its second title Cloudpunk back in 2020. The adventure game sees players take on the role of Rania, a new delivery driver for Cloudpunk, a shady company that as Rania dropping off and collecting parcels as well as passengers. Cloudpunk doesn't remain a delivery driver simulator for long, as soon enough Rania meets a private investigator who enlists her help to save a young girl. While Cloudpunk did score some good review scores, overall it was seen as a fairly average title by critics.
However, this didn't stop Cloudpunk from gaining a following, especially from those interested in Blade Runner-style mysteries and worlds. Back in May 2021, Ion Lands announced a new DLC for Cloudpunk alongside a new spin-off title called Nivalis. It may sound familiar to Cloudpunk players as it is the city players travel through in the adventure title. Rather than an adventure game, Nivalis offers players a rich, meaningful environment where they can build up their own business from scratch.

Nivalis is a life simulation game, giving players a chance to explore the newly refurbished city without forcing them to take on the role of a delivery driver. The reveal trailer for Nivalis opens with an establishing shot of the city, which gives off serious Cyberpunk 2077 vibes, before informing the player of their role as a small business owner. It seems that the player will initially begin their life in Nivalis as the owner of a small restaurant or bar, as a lot of the early game seems to revolve around building customer relations and the reputation of a player's business.
Interestingly, the day, night, and weather cycles will all have roles to play in Nivalis. As
