We first wrote about 8-Bit Adventures 2 all the way back in 2021, when the indie RPG was first confirmed for consoles. But as any tiny team of developers will tell you, actually getting your game up and running on multiple platforms can be incredibly time consuming — and so here we are, almost three whole years later.
Yep, 8-Bit Adventures 2 finally has a release date. It's coming to both PS5 and PS4 on the 16th October, promising the kind of classic, turn-based JRPG experience that so many fans of the genre grew up with. The game's been out on PC since last year, where it's racked up some really positive reviews. Critics have praised the title's colourful characters, lovely spritework, and clear reverence for the games that inspired it.

Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he's played 'em all. A little too much, some might say.
Game looks really cool but that release window is packed. I wouldn't mind trying it but realistically after I finish Unicorn Overlord, Sparking Zero, DQ3 Remake and Lego Horizon it's probably gonna be March 2025.
This game has been sitting in my wishlist for what feels like over a year. It's about time. I think it looks gorgeous and I can't wait.
Looks cool. Would probably buy this on Switch tho. Looks made for handheld.
Not even with the thickest and deeply tinted nostalgia-glasses does this look 8-bit. But apart from that it looks like a lot of fun, definitely picking it up.
