The Call of Duty franchise has had its fair share of ups and downs over the last two decades. Beginning with some fairly solid entries, Call of Duty really hit the mainstream with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare back in 2007, and it only continued to grow exponentially from there. Despite some rough patches in the mid-late 2010s, Call of Duty has somewhat leveled out in the last few years, with each entry being reviewed fairly well. This has all paved the way for 2022's entry, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, a sequel to the 2019 reboot of the subseries.
Slated for an October 28 release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 seems to be taking the core gameplay of its predecessor and expanding on it in a few ways. Though its campaign has been a focus of the trailers released so far, every Call of Duty fan knows that the real meat and potatoes of any entry is its multiplayer, being the mode that fans will return to long after the game's first week of release. With not a lot revealed about Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer yet, fans have been left to speculate, and there are a few classic Perks that some are hoping to see return this year.

One of the key elements that set Call of Duty 4 apart from its competitors back in the day was its customizable classes, and in particular, the ability to select three distinct Perks. These Perks grant the player special abilities on the field, ranging from normal, stat-boosting abilities like increased health, to more unusual options, such as dropping a grenade after death. In the years that have followed Call of Duty 4, Perks have become an essential part of any Call of Duty class, with each selection playing a vital role in how a player can perform.
