The Chrono RPG series are some of the most iconic RPGs in the genre between Chrono Trigger on the Super Nintendo and Chrono Cross on the PlayStation. The SNES entry revolutionized the JRPG genre and is often remembered as one of the best RPGs of its era and Cross, while featuring several departures from the format of the first game, still sees frequent fan requests for remasters and remakes. Now, a recent announcement from one of the franchise's main composers has speculation about a new Chrono title stirring once again.
Rumors of a Chrono Cross remake have been circulating for months as several leaks have pointed towards the Chrono Trigger sequel finally receiving a long-awaited remaster to bring the game into the modern era. Chrono Cross collaborated with popular mobile RPG Another Eden last month after being previously leaked and an Nvidia database leak from September claimed that a remastered version of the classic PlayStation RPG may be in development. On Friday, Chrono series composer Yasunori Mitsuda teased fans on Twitter with an upcoming project, sparking rumors of a remake.

The tweet from Mitsuda thanked fans for the birthday wishes left for the composer on his 50th birthday on Friday and expressed his desire to show his gratitude through his upcoming work. Mitsuda claimed that his new project could be revealed as early as next month, though he did not divulge any information as to what the mystery project will be. Previous leaks reported that a musician was working on a major PlayStation remake which Mitsuda was believed to be connected to.
