The newest film in the ever-growing Spider-Man movie universe just got another actor added to its cast. While Kraven the Hunter has been adding quite a few people to its cast, the movie apparently has the actor who will be playing the main villain in Christopher Abbott.
While Spider-Man is officially part of the MCU, the character, many of the heroes he's fought alongside, and enemies he's fought against are actually owned by Sony. That's led to several movies about those characters getting greenlit, including Kraven the Hunter. While there's still some question over just how a movie centering on a character who has long been known as a bitter enemy of Peter Parker's alter-ego is going to play out, it appears the anti-hero officially has a main antagonist.
Russell Crowe Joins Kraven The Hunter Film With Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Deadline reports that Christopher Abbott has been tabbed to take on the role of The Foreigner in Sony's Kraven the Hunter. It appears this is going to be the first major blockbuster movie for Abbott, who most recently appeared alongside a star-studded cast in the drama, The Forgiven. Sony reportedly had no comment on the news of Abbott joining Kraven the Hunter.
While the plot of the upcoming film has been kept under wraps, it's clear that there will be more than a few enemies for Kraven (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson) to fight. The Foreigner might be the main antagonist, but he's not the only villain that's been unveiled. In fact, until this most recent report, it was thought that Alessandro Nivola would be the big bad. Interestingly, while Nivola is going to be a baddie, it's still not known what character he will play.
The character of Foreigner has often been an adversary of Spider-Man in the comics.
