An unbelievable coincidence led to a YouTuber finding a Game Awards trophy belonging to Celeste developer Extremely OK Games. The simple project was eventually expanded into a full-sized game, which sees players embark on a journey to climb Mount Celeste as protagonist Madeline. The climber's signature mid-air dash ability, combined with jumps and short wall climbs, allows players to nimbly navigate through nine chapters of increasingly hazardous levels. The platformer's storyline deals with emotional themes like mental health and identity, and Celeste developer Maddy Thorson confirming that Madeline is transgender led to acclaim for the title's LGBTQ+ representation.
